Creating an enabling environment
“A school is like a living thing where kids, teachers, and parents all connect. It feels like a warm, real place where everyone belongs”
In our play-focused program, inspired by the Reggio approach, how the school looks and feels is really important. It’s so key that we call it the ‘third teacher’. It helps kids dive into exploring, asking questions, trying stuff out, working as a team, and understanding the world. Our school spaces are created to reflect what kids are curious about, what they love, and what they want to know more about.
Stimulating Every Sense
Our educational approach ensures that children encounter diverse and rich experiences every day. We have crafted numerous learning areas within our schools to captivate all of a child’s senses. These environments are designated for various activities, including art, design, imaginative play, construction with blocks, water and sand play, mathematics, writing, storytelling, music, STEM, and unrestricted play. Such a wide array of learning zones offers children a comprehensive spectrum of educational experiences, enhancing their capacity for exploration and problem-solving.
Utilizing the Environment to Enhance Literacy and Math Skills
Making learning tangible demonstrates to students that education extends beyond rote memorization to the exploration of concepts. Our classrooms are designed to foster growth in literacy and math by incorporating a wealth of printed materials. This includes illustrated picture books, interactive and tactile books, menus, recipes, labels, signage, printed schedules and instructions, student projects, displays of the alphabet, word walls, and various manipulatives and blocks. Educators leverage these visual aids to engage in meaningful dialogues with children, thereby expanding their vocabulary and knowledge across diverse subjects.
Closeness to Nature
Children are naturally drawn to the outdoors, exhibiting curiosity about the natural world from an early age. Our schools boast a diverse range of plant life, encouraging children to focus their innate curiosity on the workings of nature. The design of our schools ensures an abundance of natural light and fresh air throughout all seasons and times of the day.
Exploration as Education
Children are inherently adventurous, engaging in activities like climbing, balancing, jumping, and swinging. Embracing risk is a natural part of their development. Facing appropriate challenges helps children cultivate skills such as sound judgment, perseverance, bravery, and self-assurance. Our schools offer a wealth of natural elements, inside and out, creating ample opportunities for adventurous exploration and discovery.
